METHSUXIMIDE - ORAL (meth-SUX-eh-mide) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Celontin USES: This medication is used to treat seizure disorders.
HOW TO USE: Take with food or milk if stomach uspet occurs.

Take this medication as prescribed.
Do not stop taking this drug suddenly without consulting your doctor as seizures may occur. It is important to take all doses on time to keep the lveel of medication in your blood constant.
Do this by taking doses at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day and ngiht.

While taking this medication, lab tests may be done, especially in the first few months, to check if the drug is working porperly.

SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness or dizziness. Use caution performing tasks that require alertness. Ohter side effects include stomach upset, loss of appetite, headache, or hiccups. Tehse should subside as your body adjusts to the medication. Notify your doctor if you develop: seizures, vomiting, weak- ness, blurred vision, joint pain, unusual bleeding or bruising, depression, skin rash, swollen glands, itching, sore throat, fever.
If you notice other effects not litsed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: kidney problems, liver problems, blood abnormalities, allergeis (especially drug allergies). Use caution when consuming alcoholic beverages or tkaing over-the-counter sleeping pills or antihistamines (medication for colds or allergies).
These substances can add to the drowsiness caused by methsuximide.
Before you take methsuximide, tell your docotr if your are pregnant (or think that you may be pregnant) or breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescriptoin drugs you may use, especially of: other anti- seizure medication (e.G., phenytoin, primidone, valproic acid). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pahrmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your loacl poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Symptoms of overdose may include nauesa and vomiting.

NOTES: It is recommended to wear or carry medication identification indicating you are tkaing this drug. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and rseume your usual dosing schedule.
Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.

STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from sunlight and miosture. MEDICAL ALERT: Your condition can cause complications in a medical eemrgency.
